In two 2011 studies for Sonosite, Inc., KNG Health researchers Lane Koenig, David Ruiz, Jr., and Andrea Cornejo examined the value of using ultrasound technology to diagnose musculoskeletal conditions and renal colic.

Dr. Gu Publishes Study: “Do People Taking the Flu Vaccine Need Them Most?”

In a study published in December 2011 in Plos One, Dr. Qian Gu, senior research associate at KNG Health Consulting, finds a poor match between those who get flu vaccines and those who have a high risk of flu infection. Targeting vaccinations to people with low socioeconomic status, people who are engaged in unhealthy behaviors, working people, and families with children will likely improve effectiveness of flu vaccine policy.

Dr. Koenig Speaks at Summit of the U.S. Bone and Joint Initiative

Dr. Lane Koenig, President of KNG Health Consulting, spoke at the first biennial summit of the U.S. Bone and Joint Initiative, convened in Washington, DC, in October 2011. Dr. Koenig described KNG Health research to measure the societal and economic value of musculoskeletal care. The work, being conducted in collaboration with researchers from IHS Global Insight and Duke University, is sponsored by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Koenig Briefs Senior CMS Official on Payment Policy for Long-Term Care Hospitals

Dr. Lane Koenig, President of KNG Health Consulting, briefed Jonathan Blum, Deputy Administrator and Director of the Center for Medicare at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in October 2011. Dr. Koenig, along with representatives from the National Association of Long Term Hospitals (NALTH), presented a novel payment policy approach to improve the cost-effectiveness of long-term care hospitals. The policy, developed jointly by KNG Health and NALTH, was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives (H.R. 3516) in November 2011.
