Since 2014, KNG Health has been supporting the mission and members of the National Association of Long Term Hospitals, a trade association of long term care hospitals (LTCHs). As part of our work, we provide timely analysis of proposed and existing Medicare payment rules and regulations, development and assessment of policy options, and we develop educational and advisory materials, all of which provide information on the impact of regulatory and legislative policies on LTCHs financially and operationally. One example of our work is identifying key regulatory changes in the Inpatient Prospective Payment System and LTCH Prospective Payment System proposed and final rules and then modeling the financial impacts of these changes for members. We use these analyses to draft comments on proposed changes to payment policies and quality measures and engage with a number of stakeholders including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Defense Health Agency, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, and the National Quality Forum. Additionally, we provide insight to the executive board using data collected through claims analysis, literature reviews, environmental scans, interviews, and surveys, to advise on policy decisions. We also provide technical assistance to members through various mediums such as communications, webinars, and conference meetings.
